What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Some life skills I learned is responsibility, accountability, and hardworking. I think responsibility is very important to live independently because you need to make sure you take care of your priorities and do what your supposed to. Accountability is important because if something goes wrong as a result of a choice I made then that's on me, not anyone elses, and I should be the one to fix it. Hardworking is important because if I continue to work hard for what I want then Ill receive it. Some skills I think are essential for me after high school are hardworking, strong, and responsible. Today in class we did a Newsela then our blog post. Today was a decent day.

What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

My favorite part of big events like this is that it brings people together. I think more times then not people tend to focus on themselves and their problems, forgetting about other people and sometimes disregarding them. With big events like this it brings people together to celebrate or enjoy a common thing. Obviously there is competition but I think that anyone who goes to these events can agree on two things: 1. They want to have fun and 2. They want their team to win. Overall I like how passionate and friendly big events like this can be.  Today we took a quiz and did any missing work that could bring our grade up. Today was good.

What do you think are your biggest strengths as a speaker? What challenges do you face when presenting in front of an audience?

I think my biggest strengths as a speaker is that I'm not shy and am able to keep eye contact. I don't struggle to present and usually I am well organized. I also understand how to explain certain topics so people can better understand. I think I often get confused to find the right words to express exactly what I mean. I can stumble on my words or stutter because my mind often moves faster than my mouth does. This makes me resort to saying things such as "like" or "um" or "uh" to help me better organize my thoughts and express what I would like to say. Today we presented our projects. Today was an alright day my mind has been everywhere. I feel tired and honestly just want to relax.

If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

If I had to write a poem about my life right now it would be about my internal conflicts due to what's going on at home. I would write about this because it most reflects how I've been the last few months. It will reflect my personality as well because it will show how I mask my problems to cater to others. Also it will show the struggles I deal with and the hard decisions I have to make due to positions I've been put in. I think It will show the environment in which I grew up in and why I strive to do so much better and why I work so hard. Today we wrote a poem using words and lines from chapter 29 of A Lesson Before Dying to create a poem to reflect Jefferson. Today was good just very tiring.

Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

A time I had to speak in front of an audience is during a Christmas recital at my church. I was only 11 years old and I needed to talk to the audience because I needed to explain the recital. I was scared because I was going to be speaking in front of a lot of people some of whom were new to the church. I dealt with this by paying attention to the people I knew such as family. I would tell someone who is struggling with stage fright to focus on the future and after you covey your message, this will help you think about what your doing.   Today in class we went over how to present as well as the qualities you should and shouldn't have while doing so. Today was a good day.

Imagine it's the year 2050. What does the world look like? How have technology, society, and the environment changed?

In the year 2050 the world looks very industrialized. There are a lot of cities and people. We have more electric cars on the streets in hopes of helping with global warming. There is more electronics than ever before, we use them for nearly everything. The natural land has been pushed to very few parts of land. People are more united and get along more well.  Today we read three chapters of A Lesson Before dying and answered discussion questions then we worked on our project if needed. Today was a really good day.

Imagine writing a letter to yourself 10 years from now. What advice, hopes, or reminders would you include?

If I was writing a letter to myself 10 years from now I would tell her to continue to work hard. I know it doesn't always feel like what she does makes a difference or that she doesn't get credit for her hard work but she does make a difference and her work is good. I would remind her of the hopes she has of having a good family that cares for each other and a big beautiful house. I would tell her that no matter how hard things are she should never give up. I would tell her that she isn't alone and her family will always support her. Today in class we worked on our projects. Today was a good day I was just tired.
